Talbie checked out a "Little House on the Prairie" cookbook and made cookies today. They were delicious.

First Day of Fall

Happy "First day of Fall" to everyone! Fall is my absolute favorite time of year. I love the cool weather, the leaves changing, starting to want to bake again and turn my oven on, and the excitement and magic of the holidays to come.

Fall brings back so many memories of my childhood. Going back to school, my mom canning and baking homemade whole wheat bread. We would have homemade bread and warm grape juice every morning before school. I still love to bottle grape juice for that reason. I have bottles and bottles of it in my storeroom that I have been rationing but I have decided that we are going to use it this fall and winter. If I don't I won't have room to make more.

Fall Festival

Tonight is the "Fall Festival" at the kid's school. I always love when this is OVER. I think every mom in the school thinks the same thing. They ask the kids to each decorate a 2 liter bottle for the "bottle walk", make a cake for the "cake walk", mom's and dad's volunteer at the game booths, and if you're a room mom (like I am for 2 of my kids) then you have to organize the class basket (ours was a movie theme basket) to be auctioned off - along with 2 other items donated by class members - for the auction. It's a lot of work but the kids look forward to it all year!

Last night we made our bottles. They turned out cute. I haven't broke it to Emmie that the chances of her winning her own bottle are very slim. I'm sure you can guess whose bottle is whose...

Bronson New Skateboard

Bronson's birthday isn't until October 5th but he went birthday shopping with my mom today. My parents like to take the kids to pick out their presents to make sure they get exactly what they want. My mom will be in Las Vegas with my dad for the next 4 weeks or so - so they did it today. He picked out this skateboard to go with his many others.

It's a different kind of skateboard and I'm not sure what you call it. It's the kind with one wheel in the front and one in the back and it swivels with you ride it. Maddie's friends came over today after school to teach him how to use it. He's getting the hang of it quick and loves it!

Our Night Out

Happy Birthday Dave!

This is the first house Dave ever built! He's had many construction
projects since then.

Today is Dave's birthday! He's finally the same age as me (38). I'm 6 months older and for those 6 months I get nothing but grief about how old I am!

We had a party with my family last night and we had a BBQ and he was showered with presents. Tonight we are going up to his sisters house at Sundance for another party. He's pretty spoiled - but he deserves it. Dave is such a wonderful husband and dad. I don't know what we'd do without him. To show you how thoughtful he is - he insisted on going with me to get the papers this morning like he does every Sunday - even though it's his birthday. I would have totally used the "birthday card" and slept in!

Brittany and Jared gave him a shovel because he broke his helping them do some yardwork. They also gave him a gift card to the Home Depot. We live there lately, it seems.

More Craftiness

Since I'm the Enrichment Counselor in my ward, we are starting to prepare for our "Super Saturday" (only we have a "Fabulous Friday instead). We have a lot of fun ideas and neat crafts to choose from.

My friend, Jen has a metal cutting business and a lot of the crafts we are doing come from her. Wednesday night was our monthly "Girl's Night" and we made this craft. I should say that Brittany made it for me because I can rarely go because our presidency meetings are on the same night. I really like it - especially with the "Established" date on it. Just thought I'd share!
