Sorry to bore you with more family pictures
but these are 2 more of my favorites...

The kids

I love this one of Dave with his girls - especially with the shot gun in his hand :)
FYI - this shot gun he's holding is the same gun that he was using
when he worked for the Sheriff's Department and had the shooting accident
that shot his eye out (his left eye). That was about 16 years ago
because Maddie was 18 months old at the time.

New Family Pictures

We had some new family pictures taken and we're so thrilled with them.
Our friend from our ward - Kim Miller - took these great pictures. He does great work!
We have a beautiful orchard next door to our house and our gracious neighbors
let us come and have the pictures done there.

They even pulled out their Model T Ford for us to pose with :)

General RS Meeting and Dinner

Tonight was the General Relief Society Meeting.
My mom, Brittany and I like to go out to eat before and
then watch the broadcast together. Maddie got wind of our tradition
and decided that since she was almost 18, she should join us.
I think she was mostly interest in going to dinner but we're glad to
include her from now on ;)

Since my dad was picking up the tab anyway, we
invited him and my brother, Dustin to come along.

The Lower Lights - Free Live Concert

Many of you read my post about The Lower Lights

that my brother, Dustin is a part of. Well, on October 1st they are
having a free concert as part of this series below. It's at the
Provo Towne Center and it will be awesome!

Dave's Birthday Party

Dave's sister, Marianne hosted a birthday party for him yesterday.
We love it when we have our family parties at the Heaps' because it's just so
beautiful up at Sundance, especially this time of year!

I just love this picture. This is Bronson helping Devan down from
the rocks. He's the kindest boy - just like his dad.

Emmie would rather fall from a cliff than let her brother help her with anything!

and also nice that he has an easy name for us all to remember. (Abi's dad is also named Dave!)

Brigham and Dave cutting up the meat. Brig was hacking away at it so Dave had
to wear an apron because it was splattering all over his shirt!

We got to meet Brig's girlfriend, Lauren too. We were instant friends with
Lauren because we found out that she is the little sister of our good friend
Melissa Myers. We've always wanted the Myers to be a part of our
family and who knows - maybe our wish will come true :)

Emmie hurt her ankle pretty badly but we don't know how she did it.
Dave had to carry her back down from playing and she was heartbroken!

Mini Cheer Clinic Part 2

It was a fun night tonight at the OHS Football Game
Emmie performed with all the little girls for the Mini Cheer Clinic,
and Maddie performed with the Dance Company and it was a dance she choreographed with her friend Whitney. Brock was also in the halftime as all the younger football
teams came out onto the field!

All the "mini's" coming out on the field. I couldn't get a close up
of her because my camera sucks!

Emmie and Jill did such a great job! Jill's mom and I were one of the
last to pick up the girls after halftime because we wanted to stay and watch Maddie perform.
This was the sight we saw as we came in. These girls sure love each other!

Mini Cheer Clinic

Emmie and Jill (and about a thousand other little girls)
participated in Orem High's Mini Cheer Clinic on Wednesday and Thursday.
They will perform at tonight's football game at half time :)

Maddie with Emmie and Jill. Maddie didn't get to be their
teacher but it was probably for the best. That way, hopefully Emmie paid a
little attention to what she was supposed to be doing!

Decorating Dad's Car

We didn't get to see a lot of Dave today on his birthday :(
He was gone before Bronson and Emmie got home from school because he works in the
temple on Thursday afternoon/nights.

So, we decided to go and decorate his car so when he gets in it tonight,
he will know how much we love him :)

Maddie took the pictures so she's the only one in them!

I have to wait 6 months for Dave to catch up with me after
I have a birthday -
and he never lets me forget that I'm older!

PS - I just heard on the morning news that it's actually
Wife Appreciation Day. (true story)
So I guess that rules out your birthday - sorry :)

Home Lunch

You know the drill...

You make a lunch for your kids to take to school and include a
cute little note on their napkin that they can read later and be
reminded that their mommy loves them :)

I loved doing that and I still do. Only now, Talbie makes the lunches about 99%
of the time. She started doing this a couple of years ago because she hated
school lunch once she got to Jr. High. She makes her own lunch now.
For the first little while after she made her own lunches, I would catch her writing
herself little "love notes" on her own napkin. So cute!

She doesn't do that anymore but she will sometimes do it if she makes a lunch
for Bronson or Emmie.

Maddie RARELY brings a lunch to school. The other night she was in the mood
to make herself a lunch. Here's her bag she decorated...

I made her include the dash between "You and R" to read
You-R Special. There nothing worse than seeing something written
Your Special - drives me CRAZY!!

Then she made a note for her poor brother

I slipped a regular napkin in his lunch that day because I knew he'd
be horrified!

Check out these crazy notes that some moms made. I can't imagine making
something like this that would go straight in the garbage after they read it -
complete with homemade stickers!

The Lower Lights

Tonight we went to a Stake Fireside in Provo where
the Lower Lights were performing.

"The Lower Lights convened in fall 2009 for five days of diving into the hymns - familiar hymns, overlooked hymns, Hank Williams hymns, and more. The hope was to connect with these beautiful old songs of testimony on a deeper level, to have a new and personal experience with them. Drawing equal parts reverence and celebration from the rich mine of hymns, we ended the week with 30-plus songs that feel part-revival, part-vigil. We hope our time with the hymns can help others reconnect and have their own personal experience with these songs as well."

"Blast from the Past" Day

Today was "Blast from the Past" day at the Jr. High
Talbie went as someone from the 80's

OHS Homecoming 2010

This weekend was Orem High's Homecoming. It was a busy weekend full of fun times!

This is how Maddie answered Logan when she was asked a few weeks ago...

Friday started the Homecoming festivities and I went to the assembly at the brand new
high school to watch Maddie perform with the cheerleaders and with the dance company

The brand new auditorium is AWESOME!

Friday night we went to the football game to watch the game and more
performances but we don't have any good pictures of the game right now but Brittany
and Jared brought their good camera so I will get some great ones from them!


Saturday morning Logan picked up Maddie and they all met for their
"day date"

They went to this waterfall somewhere in Alpine that was a
natural water slide

I asked her if it hurt going down but she said no. It looks
like she's about to cry in this picture but she said that the water is so
cold that it knocks the wind out of you when you land.

Pinning on the bootineer is a bit more tricky. But, Maddie did it all by herself!
