Motor Cross Saturday!

Today we were itching to get out of town and do something so we decided to take Brittany's family with us up to Heber so Dave and Bronson could ride their motorcycles. Dave's mom has a huge yard and field they can ride in. Logan brought up his little motorcycle too and we had such a great day! I think Jared is hooked now so we should have motorbikes for everyone in the family soon!

Today was so fun! It brought be back to my childhood and riding motorcycles in my grandpa's pasture in Caldwell, ID. I still have a scar from a burn on the back of my left leg from riding with my dad with shorts on when I was about 4. I learned to ride by myself when I was probably 11 or 12 and I had a few good wipes outs of my own!

Maddie... Shortly after this jump, she did it over and over and on the last time, the jump broke and the wheel of the bike got stuck and threw her off. The wheel ran over her and I was so thankful she was wearing jeans. Her stomach has some tire marks on it though!

"Who's Calling?"

Today the kids will go to school for and hour and a half and they our summer break will officially begin! They have all gotten their yearbooks and had everyone sign them. It's been the highlight of Maddie and Talbie's year. I love our elementary school because they also do yearbooks and it's so fun for the kids to have to look back at year after year.

Emmie caught the bug of having everyone she knows sign her yearbook. When you're in the first grade, that consists of just signing your name and phone number.

Yesterday I got 2 calls on my cell phone - from boys asking for Emmie.

I asked Emmie, "Emmie, what number did you put when you were signing yearbooks?" She said, "801-362-XXXX" I about died! I said, "Emmie - that's my cell phone number!" She then said, "Yeah, because I can never remember the other one!"

It's going to be a long summer of calls from 1st graders :)

Dance Festival

On Wednesday, Bronson and Emmie had their annual "Dance Festival" at their school. Bronson and the 4th graders performed the "Virginia Reel" that they did earlier in the year. Bronson would have hated every minute of it except that his "crush" was his partner. Pretty lucky!

Emmie and the 1st graders did "The Mexican Hat Dance" and it was so cute! She insisted on wearing a sombrero, but the only ones we had were bigger than she was.

Memorial Day

WE CLEANED OUT THE GARAGE!! What a great feeling!!

We haven't been able to use half of our garage because we were collecting yard sale junk for 9 months. I'm so relieved to have it all gone

As we were bringing stuff out so we could clean, Bronson wanted to get his dirt bike running. Dave taught him how to take the spark plug out, beg his sister for a ride to the auto parts store, come home, change the spark plug, and start it up for the first time since last year. He was a happy boy!

In the afternoon we met Sandy and Alisa's family at Jessie's grave.

Then we headed to Alisa's for a BBQ. Dave makes some yummy homemade BBQ sauce and Maddie put it in an old bottle, and made this awesome label with the vinyl machine we are borrowing from our generous neighbors. We're having so much fun with it!

It was a great day!

Sunday Art

Emmie handed me these pictures during Sacrament Meeting today. I asked her who was in this first picture (even though I knew one of them was me because of the hair do) and she said it was me and dad! I love her pictures!

She later drew one of just Dave. She felt like he needed to be a little bit bigger. At least his tie is bigger. I won't be getting pictures like this for much longer because my baby is getting so big. I had to treasures these while I had them.

Visiting Graves

Today after church we headed to Heber to visit Dave's dad's grave. I love the Heber City Cemetary, it's in such a beautiful spot.

Zack, Kevin, and Ben got there at about the same time. It was fun to see family up there.

Yard Sale Success!

We had a successful yard sale yesterday and it sure feels good to be rid of so much junk! Brittany and I started collecting things out of our houses before Christmas and putting it in my garage. By the time the yard sale came around, we barely had enough room to park 1 car in the garage. On the agenda tomorrow - cleaning the garage out and parking Dave's car back in it :)

No Tooth Fairy?

I told you that Emmie lost her tooth at school on Thursday. She lost the tooth at recess and told her that we needed to write a note to the tooth fairy and tell her that so she would still leave her a dollar for losing her tooth. She said, "OK" but ran off to play.

I didn't think anything else about it because she didn't say anything more about it. Friday morning I remembered and I said, "Emmie, we forgot to write the note to the tooth fairy." She said, "Oh yeah." She really didn't seem to care.

It's now Sunday morning and she's never brought it up again. I guess she's not interested in the tooth fairy! She's a huge believer in fairies because she is a huge fan of Tinkerbell and her fairy friends. I don't know what her deal is? Maybe her big brother has said something to her - I'll have to investigate.

Friday night was the "Father and Sons" so we went to dinner with my parents. Grandpa gave her a lucky 2-dollar bill. She was very happy about that!

Finally~

She may be the last 1st grader at her school to loose a tooth - but she joined the club today! Emmie's tooth was loose a couple of days ago and she showed it to Bronson this morning on the bus. He said, "Emma! You could totally pull that out!" Now my other 2 girls would have ran screaming at the thought but not my little "tom boy!" She said, "OK" and ripped it out!

She lost the tooth at recess but we'll just have to leave a note...

Eye Appt.

We have the best eye doctor (and next door neighbor) in the world! Talbie has needed to wear glasses since she was 4 yrs old. She started wearing contacts a couple of years ago so we don't see her in her glasses very often. I think they're so cute.

Since she's getting older, her eyes have really improved and her left eye is just about perfect. She wears the lowest strength contact in that eye now. I don't think there will be much hope for her right eye and she will always need help with it, but it's nice to know she's seeing better. I've even noticed that she can read and see pretty well without them in so she's not completely "blind" anymore!

"Newsies"

Talbie had her last choir concert of the year. She LOVES to sing and is quite good at it too! They dressed up like "Newsies" because the last song they performed was "Seize the Day!" Great job, Talbie!

"Spring Fling"

Maddie and her group of friends had a great time at "Spring Fling" this weekend. The theme was "Broadway" but instead of dressing up like a character, they made "I {heart} NY shirts (only they substituted the NY with the initials of their dates.)

I don't know why she has those glasses on? In some of the pictures they are wearing glasses but Maddie chose to wear them in all the pictures!

Happy Mother's Day

Early Mother's Day

I couldn't post this with the earlier post about the stitched hand-prints I made for Brittany because I had a little more self control and I waited to give my mom her Mother's Day present. My dad took us all to the "Brick Oven" for lunch today and we decided to give her our gifts then.

This was a little more difficult to make than the embroidery hoops. Also, it was a little more difficult getting the hand prints. I called my sister-in-law, Caleen in Texas and she mailed me Markelle, Chase, Aiden, and Ember's. Cody and Kali also had to mail Ally's to me because they live in Sandy. I loved how it turned out and it freezes time a little bit to see how the grandkids have grown.

"Miss Siagon"

Last night Dave and I went to see "Miss Siagon" in Salt Lake with Brittany and Jared. We had such a great time together! Dave and I hadn't been out on a "real" date in forever and this was Brittany and Jared's first outing without Boston. Our friend Natalie Hill is starring in this show as "Ellen." Natalie grew up a couple of houses down from ours when we were young. She has been starring in "Grease" on Broadway but the show just closed and she came home to do "Miss Siagon." It was a great show!

Before the show we went to the Cheesecake Factory. So yummy. We rolled out of there very full and happy.Dave and I - below is a picture of Dave trying to eat his giant hamburger! He actually didn't have any trouble finishing it!

Natalie didn't know we were coming but we saw her mom and dad before the show started so we got to meet up with her after the show for a picture :)

Birthday in the Canyon

On Monday we headed up Provo Canyon to help Aunt Sandy celebrate Alisa's birthday. We met at this beautiful park past Vivian Park and built a fire, hiked up the trails, watched the raging river, and ate delicious food. Thanks for inviting us guys!
