Emmie LOVES Soccer!

 Emmie absolutely loves soccer!  She played for 1 year when she was

3 and I was her coach but then I never signed her up again because none of my

kids had ever been very interested in it when they got older.

 

She begged me to sign her up so I did and she starts games in the fall.

But during the month of June they do a soccer camp to get kids ready.

She has loved it and plays circles around the other kids.

 

 I can't believe how athletic she is.  She's really good too because she's

used to playing with her cousin Logan, who has been playing competitive

soccer for along time.

 I wanted to start her out just on the city team this year to see if she really liked it as much as she thinks she does.  Next year we will have to bite the bullet and pay the big bucks for the

competitive - competition teams.

 At soccer camp they play a game called "hand ball" where you run with the ball,

then drop it and kick it in for a goal.  Emmie made 2 goals in 5 minutes :)

I guess when Emmie gets a little bigger my days of sitting at dance recitals and school plays will be over and I will be replacing them with soccer games!  It's going to take some getting used to!!

Father's Day 2011

Our daddy was spoiled this year for Father's Day!

Maddie and Talbie have jobs

(Maddie at Jason's Deli and Talbie is a nanny this summer 3 days a week)

so they went all out for their dad!

 My gift was a yummy breakfast before church.

 Bronson's gift was not from Victoria's Secret :)

 ...but a new tie and pocket knife.

 Emmie gave Dave to different "Dad's Cream Sodas" and a "Dad's Root Beer!"

 And finally the new wardrobe from Maddie and Talbie!

Happy Father's Dad daddy!  We love you!!!

Orem Summerfest!

 Orem Summerfest is our favorite parade of the entire year!

I love it because you get to see everyone and we usually

have someone in our family in the parade :)

 Talbie was our star this year as she was in the parade with Orem High Student Council

 She had a foam tiger claw to give out...

 And she chose to give it to...

 Boston of course!  His mom (Brittany) made him wear those funny glasses

so he'd get noticed - and it worked!  He was handed every prize in the parade!

 Emmie caught her "Orem Owlz" hat last year in the parade and it paid

off as their float came by- they gave her a schedule and water bottle!

We had such a great time!

1/2 Marathon

This morning Brittany and Maddie ran a 1/2 marathon

13 miles!

They did so great!!

This is them at the 10 mile marker.  Maddie had to

stop at the first aid station and get her knee wrapped because it was really bothering her.

 I was a little jealous that I didn't run this with them!

I'm going to start training now so I'm no left out next time!!

Festival of Books

Talbie is an AVID reader!  She ALWAYS has her nose in a book!

She found out about this wonderful "Festival of Books" that was at BYU on 

Saturday.  It hosted a TON of wonderful authors and Talbie wanted to go and meet some of

her favorites and have some books signed.

Here she is as we arrived on BYU campus

 The first author we met was Aprilynne Pike.  She has written a few books that

Talbie has loved!  You must all check out her reading blog in the side bar of my blog

and you will get many good book reviews.

 The thing that was so great about this book festival was that

there were tons of great authors there who write Good Books (meaning clean books!)

Many of them were LDS but not necessarily "LDS writers."

The thing that is so frustrating for Talbie is that she will get a book that she thinks

is going to be great, and then half way through it - there will be something inappropriate.

I think she's so great because she will keep "white out" by her in case she

comes across a bad word, and she will white it out :)

 As we were heading to our next author - we stumbled upon David Archuleta!

 I immediately got on the phone and called a couple of my young women in my ward

and told them to get down to BYU so they could meet him because it wasn't very busy.

They did and it made their day!

 We aren't huge David Archuleta fans, so we headed to find Lisa Mangum :)
