Randoms...

We have had a lot going on the past few weeks (what's new?)

Here are some other happenings...

Maddie has been very busy at AVEDA.  She will be

in school until October and then she will graduate.  I can't tell you how nice it is

to have a our own private hair dresser!

Maddie is in school 3 full days a week (10 hours a day) and was having a really

hard time finding a job that would work with her schedule.  

She now works at Super Sonic Car Wash and LOVES IT!

She's the one that takes your money as you enter the car wash and tries

to sell you books of car washes.  Dave and I have always said that she should be sales

because she can talk anyone into anything (especially her dad and her grandpa!)

She's worked there 1 month and is one of their top sellers :)

 Today was "hippie" day at Emmie's school.  

Luckily her sister, Maddie never throws anything away and was able to help her come

up with a hippie costume with only a moments notice

My little tomboy didn't like the earrings and they only lasted about 1 minute

when she got to school. 

  

 Maddie saw the Lorax at the theater recently and fell in love again with

Dr. Seuss.  Here are 3 of my kids reading Dr. Seuss like they've just discovered his books.

Kinda weird...

 Talbie (my little "go-getter") entered a contest in her ceramics

class last semester with the Utah Food and Care Coalition.  They had to create something that

would represent them.  She came up with this soup bowl - shaped like a hobo's hat.

 It was kind of like a school assignment but she found out a couple of weeks ago that

she had won the contest :)  She won 4 pizzas from 5 Buck Pizza.  Dinner was on her the

other night :)  Way to go Talbie!!

I knew this camera was too much for someone like me!

I knew nothing - until I had a pro come over and teach me some basics.  Thanks Morgan!

I think I still have a lot to learn but I got some good pictures of Talbie on closing night last night.

Tonight our ward had a Court of Honor

Bronson had earned 7 more merit badges and his LIFE award!

Next summer he and Brock should be earning their Eagles!

My Birthday

My birthday was on March 24th and I was so spoiled this year!

I feel a little guilty about how badly I was spoiled, but I will admit that it was fun!

Dave gave me this beautiful kitchen table.  I love it!

 I love it because it has benches on each side that will hold more people :)

Since we were married, we have been using an antique table that belonged to my 

Great Grandma Christensen.  It's a Duncan Phyfe table and she got it in the 1920's.

She cherished that dining room table her entire life and used it carefully on special occasions.

We used it everyday as our kitchen table and it has been "well loved" all these

years.  I will never get rid of it.  I will cherish it forever.  

Maddie and Logan gave me this new iPad cover - with a keyboard!

 Talbie gave me this darling apron and a gift card to a new

Chinese restaurant that Dave and I can try out!

 Emmie wrote and published this book in school.

 Emmie also gave me this darling purse (with a little help from Grandma Pat :)

 Bronson - my master carpenter, made me this jewelry

box out of cherry wood from our cherry tree.  I love it!

 

...and, Dave continued to spoil me by buying me a new lens

for my camera.  Remember the nice camera he found at Christmas time, 2010.

It was my Christmas miracle because we don't have money to spend on an expensive

camera but Dave found it on KSL Classifieds for a fraction of what we would have bought

it at a store.  

I have loved our camera but when Dave bought it, it only came with one lens that

has been wonderful for outside, action shots or stage shots of Maddie and Talbie.

But we haven't been able to use it around the house or other occasions because

the lens was such high focus lens.  With this new lens, we can take everyday

pictures and use it for everything!

I just really need to take a class on how to use it properly.  It does a lot

more than I know how to do!

I was also spoiled by my sister, Brittany who took me out to lunch and gave me

2 new pairs of shoes and a new pair of boots (and other goodies)

Thoroughly Modern Millie

Talbie has been working hard for the past 6 weeks or so in the play

Thoroughly Modern Millie.

This is the first production she has done in high school and she had so much fun!

Marjorie Pay Hinckley and Donny Osmond

Did the title of this post intrigue you?

 It's that time of year again for the 4th grade program!

They do the Wax Museum every year and the students all pick a famous person

from Utah to represent.  Emmie chose Marjorie Pay Hinckley :)

 The entire 4th grade participated.  Before we walked around the halls and

who each student was representing, they performed a couple of musical numbers.

 They also learn the Virginia Reel every year.  I remember so vividly

when Maddie, Talbie, and Bronson have each done this.  The worry of the entire

year is who you are going to be paired with.  After all, you were actually going to have

to "touch" this person!

 It worked out so great because each class chose partners.  They had the boys and girls

all line out according to height and Emmie and Logan were lined up exactly to be partners!

The pressure was off!

 Waiting for the kids at the end, Boston realized that he and "Bub" were matching!

I love how he calls Bronson, "Bub."

The best is when Bronson is passing the Sacrament at church and Boston will yell

"Hi Bub!"

I was glad I got to go with Brittany tonight because our families were all split up.  Jared was

at Brock's championship basketball game, Dave was working in the temple, and it was

opening night for Talbie's play, "Thoroughly Modern Millie!"
