Spring Fling

Saturday night was Spring Fling.  Talbie went with a fun group of friends.

The theme was the "The Great Gatsby"

We have an orchard next to our house and the owners are good friends of ours.

We have had our pictures taken in the orchard as a family with their Model T Ford.

Talbie's group did the same thing and they were able to get a 1941 Ford from

the grandpa of one of the girls in the group.  Pictures turned out so great...

Mother's Day

I REALLY love Mother's Day!

I feel so blessed to be a mother.  I'm thankful for my beautiful kids, my 

wonderful mother, mother-in-law, and grandmothers.  

I always feel so loved on Mother's Day.  Not because I'm showered with flowers

and expensive gifts, but because I know my family loves me and that means everything to me!

Dave did spoil me by getting me a new bike!  I have wanted one for so long.

We went on a fun family bike ride that day.  I love it!!

 Bronson got me these herb planters that, after 1 week, are already growing basil and cilantro!

 Talbie got me a beautiful hanging plant for my front porch and Maddie

got me Season 3 of Downton Abbey, for my collection.

Logan Lawrence, Maddie's old boyfriend, sent me these beautiful flowers.

He said I helped him during his high school years so I would

always be a mother to him.  So sweet!

This was a different Mother's Day for me.  It was wonderful but I started to realize that my

kids are growing up too fast.  My Mother's Day used to consist of 95% homemade gifts, made at

school or at home.  I spent many years wearing macaroni or button necklaces to church.  This year

I got Emmie's homemade frame, and that was it.  Don't get me wrong - grown kids with jobs

get really good presents :), but I miss the macaroni necklaces.

I went back on my blog to Mother's Day 2007 and found these great pictures...

My cute kids...  Look at Maddie's face.  She was so funny when she was 14 :)

 My #1 - favorite Mother's Day present of all time is this

picture Bronson made me when he was 8.  I still have it hanging in my

work room downstairs.  The poem is sweet (I'd have to go down and read it because I forgot :)

but the picture kills me.  I look like a fire breathing dragon about to smite him.  I love how

he got the flip in my hair right, though!

Another Surgery for Emmie

Emmie has been having a lot of ear pain in her right ear.

She has a pretty high pain tolerance with her history of sickness, so when she

was calling me from school, a couple of times a week, I knew something was wrong.

I would take her to her doctor and her ear wasn't infected.  That's when I knew we needed to

get her back to her ENT specialist.

We went and saw Dr. Robins and sure enough, her right ear tube was not sitting

where it needed to be and her ear would pop all the time, causing her a lot of pain.

She went in last Thursday for surgery to have the old ear tubes removed and new ones put in.

This was her 5th set of ear tubes.  She has also had sinus surgery and her adenoids removed.

Luckily, Emmie doesn't mind surgery and ever since she was a baby, she has been the

type of patient that wakes up happy - even giggly after surgery.

and they gave her a new pet snake to hold.

 This is her right after they wheeled her back from surgery.  Told you she was always happy :)

 

She was feeling great when we got home.  She was even inspired to practice her

surgery skills and started operating on her stuffed animals.

Her giant pillow pet had it's appendix removed.  

 She had a line of patients out the door.  She must be good!

Spring Soccer 2013

Today was Emmie's second to last soccer game of the season.

When I sign up with the Orem Recreational Soccer team, they play fall and spring

on the same team.  Emmie has loved this but the season only runs about 5 weeks

in the fall and 5 weeks in the spring.  This really isn't enough for Emmie because

she loves it so much.  I need to find her another league to play on.

Hope of America

Last Thursday was Hope of America at the Marriott Center.

This is a fun program that most of the 5th graders in Utah County participate in.

It's a huge event that is held for 2 days so they can split everyone up.

The kids spend the entire school year learning songs and planning for it.  Emmie was the

last of my kids to do it.  

Dave works in the temple Thursday nights so Brittany and I went together

with Emmie and Logan.  It was a lot of fun.

During one of the last songs they turn off the lights
and the kids sing with their flashlights.  It's quite a show. 

 The kids shaped as the American flag.  Emmie is on

the third row of blue from the bottom and second one in on the right :)

West Side Story

Talbie has spent the past few months preparing for the new musical at Orem High

West Side Story.

She was "Bernice" - one of the Jet's girlfriends :)
