Summer Project

Dave and Maddie have had a summer project...

Rebuilding a motor cycle!

 It's actually been more of a project for Dave - but Maddie has helped buy the parts for it so it can be "hers."  They need to get a spark plug this week to get it completely ready to ride.

I'm not going to allow her to ride it on the street!  I probably crashed a dozen times

on a motorcycle when I was young but it was in the mountains or in my grandpa's pasture.

Dave's excited to have a motorcycle again.  Every times he gets one, I make him sell it because they are so dangerous!

Game #2

Soccer game #2 was a tie 2-2

If there was ever a game to end in a tie - this would be the game :)

We didn't realize until we got there that the team we were playing was

Jill's team - Emmie's best friend in the world!

Emmie's dream of being the goalie came true during the first half of the game.

 Jill was also goalie  She did such a great job that she played the entire game!

 Look at that kick!  She did awesome and our team didn't score an entire goal

on her for the entire first half.

 Emmie also played very well...

 ...but they scored on her and she had decided that she'd had enough!

 During the second half Emmie played her heart out!  I love this picture

Logan and Emmie on their first day of kindergarten.  I think I have
one of them for every year now!  What a fun tradition as the years go on.  Can't wait to see them heading off for their Senior year together!
(Emmie will have to have her own car because I don't know if I'll trust Logan behind the wheel!)

First Day of School - part 2

I had to update my last post to put these 2 cute pictures

of Logan and Emmie on.  Brittany took these as she was about

to drive them to school...

 They could be twins!  They are in the same class this year

so it's going to be fun!!

This year the 4th graders will learn the "Virginia Reel" - the 4th grade does

it every year.  They have already made a pact that they are telling the teacher

that they want to dance together because they don't want to risk the harrassment

that comes with dancing with someone you may or may not "like"

First Day of School 2011

This morning is our first "full" day of school.

Yesterday Talbie and Bronson had half days because they give

the 7th graders and 10th graders a day to come and find their classes by themselves.

I forgot to take Talbie's picture yesterday so I had to take it as she got out of the car!

At least I got something :)

Bronson and Brock are glad to have each other in Jr. High this year.

Brittany and I take turns driving them in the morning and then

they walk home :)

 Today is Emmie's first day of 4th grade.  She's so excited!

I think this the first day she's had her hair combed since the last day of school (excluding Sundays :)

The Day Has Finally Come...

 It's been 5 years since Emmie played on a soccer team.

She has begged me for the last year to sign her up again and I finally

realized how much she loves it - and I did it!

She had her first practice last week and her games started today!

She is amazing!! They won 6-0

 Here is my little Emmie 5 years ago.  She was the smallest on the team

and could never keep up with the ball.  Now she's one of the tallest, leanest, and fastest!

 I was their coach :)

17 Miracles

Last night for family night we went and saw "17 Miracles" and it was wonderful!

This movie is so touching and I was so grateful we could see it as a family.

It brought back some memories of being at Martin's Cove a few years ago -

and also made me so extremely grateful for our pioneer ancestors, from

my side and Dave's, that made the sacrifice to join the Church and make the 

trek to Zion from Denmark and England.  We are so blessed because of them.

Maddie Starts at AVEDA

Maddie's summer came to an abrupt halt a few weeks ago as she started

at the AVEDA Institute the beginning of July.

Maddie has long 10 hour days at school but it's only on MTF and she has

Wednesday and Thursdays off.  She's really enjoying it and we can't wait to be her

"guinea pigs" at school as she learns.  It's going to be great to have

our hairdresser so handy!

The first week of school she got an ipad as part of her tuition.

Then last week she came home with all her fun supplies!

 The mannequin where she will perform many haircuts!

Happy 15th Birthday Talbie!

Yesterday was Talbie's 15th birthday!

I don't know where all the time flies to.  My kids are getting old :(

On Thursday my parents took Talbie out to lunch.  Talbie was the

first one to drive in grandma's new "Smart Car"  

I was lucky to get to with them this year :)

 Then last night Dave and I took Talbie to Brick Oven for dinner.

 

We are so proud of Talbie!  She is such a hard worker and wonderful

member of our family.  An example of Talbie's ambition is that at the beginning

of the summer, she found a job as a nanny, tending an 18 month year old little boy.  She works on MWF and she makes $100 a week.  She has been budgeting her money each week into

envelopes - $10 tithing, $40 savings, $20 spending, and $30 for school clothes.

She already has a darling wardrobe to start 10th grade with her

school clothes budget - never once asking if we are giving her any money for school clothes. She's a "go getter!"

Restoration Project

 Bronson and Dave starting restoring a gun this summer.  It was a gun

that used to be Dave's dad's - in fact it's the 30/30 rifle that Dave was using the

day he shot his eye out when he was at the Sheriff's Department.

 The finished product.  What a fun project for a boy and his dad :)

Girls Camp 2011

Talbie was the only one that went to Girl's Camp this year.  

She was so brave and was really excited to go, even though our Stake had to

make other arrangements because it was still too snowy at 

Camp Mia Shalom.  Then ended up at a camp site just up Spanish Fork Canyon.

Dave helped drive the girls up and helped them set up camp.  That was fun

for Talbie.  He also went up on the last day to help take things down and drive home.

 Talbie had a blast.  Her cot broke the first day so she tried to duct tape it

back together.  It worked like a charm!
