Girl's Camp 2015

At the end of last year, I was called to be the cook at Girl's Camp.

We had camp the week just before the 4th of July.

I love going to camp when my girls are up there.  I have been twice with

Maddie and once with Talbie.  It was great being up there with Emmie this year!

I also had it made because Dave came up with our ward for the week as

a member of our bishopric and the priesthood representative.

That made my life very easy because he helped me cook and everything.

We go to girl's camp at Mia Shalom up Fairview Canyon.

Each campsite has 3 cabins.  We have a smaller ward so one cabin

slept the 15 girls, one slept the 4-5 leaders that were up there, and then

Dave and I had one all to ourselves.  That was a real treat!  

I have enjoyed sleeping with the girls in the past, but I'm not always a fan of

staying up late and talking all night.  Especially when I have to be the first one up

in the morning to start cooking.

One afternoon we played minute-to-win-it games.  This one you had to stack

6 Oreos on your forehead and walk about 20 feet.  For some reason, Emmie and I were really 

good at this :)

 Another game was to put some pantyhose on your head with a tennis ball at the bottom

of one of the feet.  You had one minute to knock down 10 water bottles (like bowling).

 I made capes for the girls to sign for each member of the bishopric

because they are our "super heros!"

 Emmie had so much fun staying up with all the girls!  We came home on Friday morning

July 3rd.  She crashed on the couch at 4:00 pm and Dave carried her up to bed at 10:00

and she slept until 10:00 am the next day.  18 hours straight!

Emmie's Soccer Hike

I love Emmie's soccer team and she does too!
She has such a great coach and is such good friends with the girls on the team.

This summer she has played in a few tournaments and her coach has been

doing some conditioning with them.

A couple of weekends ago, they went on a long hike to Silver Lake - up American Fork

Canyon.  It sounded like a pretty hard hike and she was gone for about 7 hours doing it.

I know the hike would have killed me but she doesn't seem to have broken a sweat.

Kitchen Remodel Part 1

Dave and I have decided to tackle a remodel of our kitchen.  We have lived in this

house for almost 20 years (that doesn't seem possible) and it is time!!

This is a picture of what my kitchen used to look like...

I had a better "before" picture but my phone died with it on it :(

We only have the cabinets painted right now but the plan is to replace the counter tops

and the wood floor in the next week or two, as well.  We already have all the supplies

bought so we just have to find the time to do it ;)

 This gives you an idea of the finished product with the cabinets.  

We have put the cute hardware on the cabinets since this picture was taken.

I will do another "after" shot when we get the counter tops on.

Our central air unit just died and Dave was able to find an almost new unit to 

install.  That will definitely be our next project because being without air

conditioning is killing us!

Dave's New Truck

About a month ago, Dave got a new truck.

He was in bad need of the purchase.  His old truck barely ran and he had to

drive down the road holding the door closed because it didn't latch.

He's deserved this purchase so much!  He works so hard and this

makes his job much easier :)

Mother's Day

I had a wonderful Mother's Day this year ;)

Dave and Bronson bought me these hanging plants and

made flower boxes for my front porch!

 Talbie sent me a nice card and Emmie made me these darling envelopes

and I open one every time I feel a certain way.  I love them!

 We went and saw Dave's mom at Lynn's.  She's always happy

to see her baby boy!

 Maddie and Logan gave me a bouquet of flowers.

Talbie at BYU-I

Talbie started her second semester at BYU-I about 6 weeks ago.

I think she was a little more apprehensive to start school this semester because

the newness had worn off and she knew she had a lot of work ahead of her.

She liked her roommates last semester (except 1!) and she was nervous

moving into a new apartment with new roommates.

But...  She has had such a good time.  She LOVES her "room" roommate,
Sarah L from home.  She is just awesome!!  Sarah is engaged and her fiance's apt

has a bunch of really fun guys in it AND they happen to be in the same FHE group together.

Other May Happenings...

May is always a busy month with school ending.  Here are some

random things we've been up to...

Bronson got to go to the academic party at his high school

and he scored this awesome shirt!

 We went and saw the new Avengers movie at the Mega Plex!

 We got our garden planted and we have been having plenty of

rain to keep it watered :)

 We attended the new Payson Temple Open House.

This is the most beautiful temple I have ever seen!!

I think it may be the biggest, as well!

 Last Saturday we ran  5K to help support Sierra Strong.

Sierra is the daughter of the kid's favorite teacher in Jr. High, Mr. Strong.

Sierra has been battling Leukemia and this run was to help earn

money to help cover all her medial costs!

 It was superhero themed :)  

Me, Maddie, Logan, Emmie, and Logan Heal ran it.

Logan (or big Logan as he's refered to :) 

was fast and came in with the first 20 people!  His time was 22 mintutes!

Maddie, Emmie, and Logan (little Logan ;) were right behind him.

I came in at a cool 44 minutes, which I think is pretty good considering

this was my first 5K and I walked 80% of it ;)

End of the Soccer Season

It was a great soccer season for Emmie!  She had her last game a week ago

and it was so fun to see the progress this team has made since last summer.

Emmie is one of the youngest on this team and we are really hoping it can stay together

for the next season :)
