Bronson's "High Altitude Camp"

Bronson's Priest Quorum have a tradition of going to Park City

every summer for their "High Altitude Camp"  They do this instead of a

High Adventure Camp :)  

We have had such a wonderful young men's leader for the past 6+ years.

He just got released so Bronson was happy he was able to do this with his great friends in the ward.

Dave was lucky enough to get to go too. He was able to get some pictures...

They ate very well :)

 They did the Alpine Slide in Park City too!

Kitchen Remodel - Process and Finished Product!

We finally finished our kitchen!  We actually did it pretty fast.

It only took about 2 weeks.  But 2 weeks without a kitchen is a long time!!

 The next step after we painted the cabinets was to replace the countertops.

Nobody knew this, but we used the bottom of our counter, where the bar was,

and used to write love notes on it ;)

 This was the very first one that I wrote a year after we had been in our house.

Once the kids saw that I had written on the counter - there was no stopping them.

 I was kind of sad to see all our years of notes go

but I'm much happier with the butcher block counters.  I have threatened my

kids that no one better start writing under these ;)

 Once the counters were in, we were going to start on our wood floor.

The plan was to put the new flooring right on top of the old wood floor, but then

we discovered all this water damage by our back door.  We knew there was a problem

but had no idea how bad it was until Dave started tearing it out.  The entire time Dave was remodeling

he was cursing the name of our builder because they did some pretty shoddy work 19 years ago!

 After he started tearing up the flooring by the door, he discovered that it

had rotten out the bottom of the door  We had to tear out the back door and

get a new one.  That put us a day behind schedule but I'm very happy with my new door :)

 Here's a video of the door being taken out.  It was so nice and open with it gone.

Too bad we couldn't leave it that way :)

 After the door problems was fixed, we started on the floor...

 We also added a tile back splash to the kitchen.

We were lucky because our friend, Bryce stopped by the night Dave was

doing the tile.  We were able to finish it in one day because of his help.

This was nice because it was a Saturday night (before the door fiasco)

and I was able to get my kitchen back for Sunday, which was a blessing!

4th of July 2015

We had a fun 4th this year!

We BBQed with the kids at lunch time and then we went and saw

the movie "Inside Out" - which is such a cute movie!

That evening we went to the Stadium of Fire at the BYU Stadium.

We usually don't spend the money to go to this but this year

"Journey" was coming and we HAD to go :)

It was a great show!!
 

 

Girl's Camp 2015

At the end of last year, I was called to be the cook at Girl's Camp.

We had camp the week just before the 4th of July.

I love going to camp when my girls are up there.  I have been twice with

Maddie and once with Talbie.  It was great being up there with Emmie this year!

I also had it made because Dave came up with our ward for the week as

a member of our bishopric and the priesthood representative.

That made my life very easy because he helped me cook and everything.

We go to girl's camp at Mia Shalom up Fairview Canyon.

Each campsite has 3 cabins.  We have a smaller ward so one cabin

slept the 15 girls, one slept the 4-5 leaders that were up there, and then

Dave and I had one all to ourselves.  That was a real treat!  

I have enjoyed sleeping with the girls in the past, but I'm not always a fan of

staying up late and talking all night.  Especially when I have to be the first one up

in the morning to start cooking.

One afternoon we played minute-to-win-it games.  This one you had to stack

6 Oreos on your forehead and walk about 20 feet.  For some reason, Emmie and I were really 

good at this :)

 Another game was to put some pantyhose on your head with a tennis ball at the bottom

of one of the feet.  You had one minute to knock down 10 water bottles (like bowling).

 I made capes for the girls to sign for each member of the bishopric

because they are our "super heros!"

 Emmie had so much fun staying up with all the girls!  We came home on Friday morning

July 3rd.  She crashed on the couch at 4:00 pm and Dave carried her up to bed at 10:00

and she slept until 10:00 am the next day.  18 hours straight!

Emmie's Soccer Hike

I love Emmie's soccer team and she does too!
She has such a great coach and is such good friends with the girls on the team.

This summer she has played in a few tournaments and her coach has been

doing some conditioning with them.

A couple of weekends ago, they went on a long hike to Silver Lake - up American Fork

Canyon.  It sounded like a pretty hard hike and she was gone for about 7 hours doing it.

I know the hike would have killed me but she doesn't seem to have broken a sweat.

Kitchen Remodel Part 1

Dave and I have decided to tackle a remodel of our kitchen.  We have lived in this

house for almost 20 years (that doesn't seem possible) and it is time!!

This is a picture of what my kitchen used to look like...

I had a better "before" picture but my phone died with it on it :(

We only have the cabinets painted right now but the plan is to replace the counter tops

and the wood floor in the next week or two, as well.  We already have all the supplies

bought so we just have to find the time to do it ;)

 This gives you an idea of the finished product with the cabinets.  

We have put the cute hardware on the cabinets since this picture was taken.

I will do another "after" shot when we get the counter tops on.

Our central air unit just died and Dave was able to find an almost new unit to 

install.  That will definitely be our next project because being without air

conditioning is killing us!
