Talbie Sings in Sacrament Meeting

Brave Talbie - sang her first solo in Sacrament Meeting on Sunday. She sang "I Need Thee Every Hour" and I accompanied her. She did a beautiful job!

Look What's in Our Apple Tree...

A couple of weeks ago we discovered a nest in our apple tree! We were so excited to watch and see if the mama laid some eggs in it. Yesterday, Talbie discovered the baby birds! They are so fun to watch...

4th of July

We had a great 4th of July. We didn't want to go to the "Stadium of Fire" this year so we went with Dave's family and celebrated at the BYU Training Room. Lynn and Kevin were our wonderful hosts and we ate tons of great food, the kids swam, played football out on the field, and then watched the fireworks!

Yee Haw!

It's a tradition in our family to go to the Oakley Rodeo every year during the 4th of July weekend. We had a great time and the weather really cooperated because it rained as we were driving up there but then it stopped until it was time to drive home. We even got to stay until the fireworks at the end!

Some Father's Day Fun

Our great neighbors, the Kirk's - invited us to go shooting with them on Saturday before Father's Day. This was a dream come true for Dave. Here are some great pictures they took for us because I stayed home with Emmie because she wasn't feeling well. Thanks Kirk family for organizing this!

RIP Michael Jackson

I remember the day I bought the "Thriller" album. I was in Jr. High. My body just naturally starts to move when I hear a Michael Jackson song - you can't help it!

Bronson discovered Michael's songs last year in school. His teacher would let them listen to music sometimes and Michael Jackson was a favorite! This past year he's put most of his songs on his ipod and for 2 months now he has wanted to buy a "Beat It" jacket from ebay. I have been fighting him on this because really, what would he do with it? He finally realized that if he was going to get one, he'd have to earn the money himself.

Well, he's been doing a lot of babysitting next door and has earned the money. It was just yesterday when I finally had him convinced that there may be a better way for him to spend his $100 and if he waited until October and he still really thought he "needed" it - then maybe he could use it for Halloween.

Maddie was the first to tell us the news yesterday that he had died. Talbie said, "Oh no! Who's going to tell Bronson?" He took the news like a man :)

Pioneer Village

On Friday we took a little family outing and headed to Salt Lake to visit the "Historic Pioneer Village" and the "This Is The Place" Monument. We had such a lovely day together and I loved visiting all the pioneer houses.

Inside one of the houses. It was actually one of the largest houses with an upstairs. Dave could barely stand up straight because the ceilings were so low.

Maddie and Talbie were too old to ride the ponies but they made the weight cut so they were able to get an exciting (NOT!) ride.

Then we stopped by the Tithing Office - to make candles :)

Family Portrait

Mary Fielding Smith's home. I loved this quaint little cabin/house. After Hyrum Smith was killed, Mary Fielding Smith came to Salt Lake. She became a plural wife to Heber C. Kimball - so she could become independent! In the 1840's women couldn't own land if they weren't married. Mary was given a city plot to build a house on but she wanted to be self-sufficient so she built this house with her boys outside the city. She was an amazing woman!

We had a great time. We got a picture of the monument on our way out. If you haven't been to visit this wonderful historic village, I suggest you take the time to do it! You could almost spend 2 days there because there is so much to see.
