Violin Recital and Blog Anniversary!

Talbie had her violin Spring Recital tonight. She did a great job playing her piece that she'd worked so hard on - more importantly - I survived accompanying them on the piano! Our camera battery died right after we got there but at least we got one picture!! Way to go Talbie!

As I was starting to post this - it hit me that I blogged the recital last year. I checked and sure enough - it was my first blog post. MY BLOG IS ONE YEAR OLD!! I'm excited that I've stuck to it for so long - and even more excited that I enjoy it so much.

If you go back and look at that post, you will notice Emmie in the recital. She had just started but she doesn't take violin lessons anymore. We decided t take a break and wait a year or so until it comes a little easier to her and it doesn't frustrate her so much!

You may recognize the dress from our Easter pictures. It was Maddie's Easter dress. I bought it for her - without her being with me and WITHOUT her permission. She of course hated it (she's so weird) and so it's now Talbie's. I pinned the skirt to fit her an viola! A new outfit! Talbie has an amazing wardrobe because I've learned the hard way and bought MANY things for Maddie that didn't meet with her approval and they go straight to Talbie! Bless you Talbie for being such a sweet, and easy child!

Maddie's Dance

A couple of weeks ago Maddie got to attend a Prom! Her friend, Carlie goes to a private school and they let their students that are 14 & 15 go to prom (without dates) along with the kids that went with dates. Maddie had a great time with Carlie and her friends. Here are a few pictures her mom took (Barb) as they got ready. Thanks Barb!

**Also - a huge thank you to Megan (my neice) for letting her borrow your beautiful dress! Maddie is lucky to have 2 older cousins who have dozens of dresses we can borrow when we won't want to buy a dress for every single dance!

Next year Maddie will be 16 and will get to go to Prom with a date. That's too weird for me to think about!

Looks Like We're Going!

Miley Cyrus (a.k.a Hannah Montana) is coming to the "Stadium of Fire" this 4th of July! This caused quite an uproar for Utah County and the tickets sold out in a matter of minutes.

Talbie is always saying "I don't understand why everyone likes Miley Cyrus so much!" We love the Hannah Montana Disney show - but Talbie has always acted pretty `blase' about it. Well, my dad called us yesterday from Vegas and said he got 8 tickets for the show. He knows some "uppity ups" and gives support to the Freedom Festival so he was able to score some tickets. He even has 2 tickets to the pre-show event with Miley.

Anyway - this means that my family is getting 2 tickets (better than none). Maddie has been to the "Stadium of Fire" before but Talbie hasn't had the chance. I told her about it (thinking she really wouldn't care) and she FREAKED! She said, "Oh my gosh! Wait until I tell my friends! They will be so excited!" I guess she really DOES like Miley Cyrus! I was thrilled she was so excited. Thanks dad! It will be a fun show!!

Brittany's Party

Last night - the girls got together and we celebrated Brittany's birthday. It was a riot! Brittany received a coordinating outfit of a boa, cute apron, and designer gloves! It was perfect. To top the evening off, Sommer had a cake made with a "priceless" picture of Brittany on it. It was a great night of friends and fun. Thanks everyone!

Today is my baby sister's birthday! Hope it's a great day for you Brittany - HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

I searched my pictures this morning and I could only find 2 with just me and Brittany in them. All the others had my brothers in the picture too. These are "blasts from the pasts"...

This picture was taken in 1981 when we lived in Boise, Idaho. I was 12 and Brittany was 6. I don't know what the deal was with my hair during this time in my life. It's hideous! Brittany will remember this time well because she ALWAYS wore dresses because my mom had cut her hair short and she always thought she looked like a boy!



This is us jumping on the tramp after my family moved here to Orem. You'll notice that down below the house is where "The Shops at the Riverwoods" are today. When we moved here it was nothing but empty fields. I didn't have a friend in the world at this time because my family had just moved me to Utah right before my senior year of high school. Brittany was always my "pesty little sister" until we moved and she suddenly became my best friend so I didn't have to go places alone. Even after I started making friends, I realized Brittany was pretty dang fun to be around. We've been best friends ever since :)

Congrats Maddie!

Back at the beginning of March, Maddie auditions to see if she'd be accepted to BYU's Summer Ballet Workshop. We've waited a month for the letter to arrive and it came today. She was accepted and she's very excited about it. There is a conflict though because the camp starts on July 7th and that's the same day she leaves for EFY. She was a little disappointed about it but she was really just glad to hear she had made it. I'm excited because I just saved myself $625.00!

Happy 40th Anniversary

Happy 40th Wedding Anniversary to my mom and dad! You guys are the best parents in the world and I'm thankful for all you have done for us. Here's to another 40 :) I love you!

Scentsy

I just got back from a great party at my friend's house. It was a "Scentsy" party. I love to burn candles or potpourri to make my house smell good. This is the newest and greatest thing. You buy these darling burners that plug into the wall and you put a couple of cubes of the scented wax in the top. It melts and makes your house smell amazing! I'm excited about getting the stuff I ordered so my house will smell wonderful! Brittany and I are thinking about having a party so we'll keep you posted!

A Morning at Our House

Every morning we have to get a lot done before the kids head off to school. The biggest thing that the kids hate is practicing their instruments. It usually goes smoothly, but sometimes we have minor "breakdowns." This was a better morning for Bronson on the piano because his lesson is today and he knows his songs after a week of practicing. It will be tomorrow morning, when the songs are new, that there will be tears involved with the practicing!

Talbie loves her violin. I caught this picture as she was waiting for me to come into the living room and play the piano for her while she practiced. She has a recital next week so we've been practicing hard for that. I'm actually playing the piano for one of the recitals so I have had a week of practicing too. I'm not used to that!
