First Day of School

Well, the summer came and went like it does every year.

Every year it seems to go a little faster :(

My kids were eager to get back to school as it got closer.

It's always fun to get back to a schedule and seeing friends.

They are already a little sick of it because the homework has started.

Talbie is a senior this year.  She will be so busy this year

but it will be a great year for her!

She was bummed because the Student Council decided to wear their their

"Studco" shirts so she didn't get to wear one of her new cute shirts.

I thought she looked cute anyway :)

 Bronson started 9th grade.  He is a typical boy because he

had a bunch of new clothes in his closet but he chose to wear an old shirt and old shorts

for his first day :(

 I love that Talbie has her own car now because she drops

Bronson and Brock off at the Jr. High every morning on her way to school.

 My baby started 6th grade!  All the kids are the oldest in their

schools this year.  That's a big deal because they will all be graduating from

their current school at the end of the year.

 Brittany snapped some pictures at her house before they

walked out the door to the bus.

  ...and then he got made when he realized that he

wasn't getting on the bus with everyone.  Next year he will

be in kindergarten so he has a long wait :(

It feels weird leaving Maddie out of the first day of school pictures but

since she graduated from high school 2 years ago and hair school last year - she doesn't have

first days of school anymore.

I don't know if I mentioned it on the blog but she started working at Dr. Myers office

with me.  It's been so fun having her there and she has been a fast learner.

It's going to be a great job for her.

I love my job and I'm thankful that I have such a great place to work.

I also get off at 2:00 every day so I'm home before the kids get there which is

an even greater blessing!

Dave's Stitches...

About a month ago, Dave was working at the house they are building and

he tripped and landed on a bolt that went through his arm.

He said when it happened, blood was spurting out like a fountain.

Luckily he's good in emergency situations because he instantly

used his thumb to press on his artery (that he nicked) and stopped the bleeding.

He had his partner, Jerry drive him to the Instacare, where I met him.

The Instacare sent us straight to the ER because they were afraid he would need surgery

to repair the artery.

At the hospital, they saw he hadn't severed his artery, only nicked it.

The stitched him up and he was good as new.

 Some of these pictures are a little gross so I apologize.

 I was in my scrubs since I had come straight from work.

They let me help hold the light and watch him get stitched up :)

Pioneer Day Rodeo

We try and keep our tradition of going to a rodeo every year.

We usually go to Oakley, UT for the rodeo over the 4th of July but this year

we thought we would try the Spanish Fork rodeo over Pioneer Day.

It was fun but a lot bigger.  I hope we can go back to Oakley next year.

Summer Blog Catch Up

I am so behind on blogging!  I will try and catch up so I can keep a record of

our summer's activities :)

At the end of June, Brittany and Jared went to California

for work and ended up going to Disneyland together (with no kids!)

This is how Boston felt about it...

 Talbie babysat for them for the weekend and we did

some fun things together.

 Monster's Inc II

 It made for a full house on Sunday for dinner with 8 kids :)

Emmie has discovered a love of drawing and

has made 2 pictures to submit to the Friend Magazine.

I hope they publish one of them!

Bronson got a pet turtle and we named him Pistachio.

He is such a fun turtle.  He is always out of his shell and is not

shy at all.  He will eat in front of us and is fun to take outside to play.

 Bronson also worked a lot with his dad and came home most days

looking like this...

 This is Boston with some of the neighborhood kids that love

to come to our house for a treat everyday :)

Father's Day 2013

I'm playing catch up on the ole blog.

Dave had a great Father's Day last month.  We love him so much

and are so glad he is such a good daddy :)

 I can barely remember what he got for Father's day even though it's only been a month.

I can tell from the picture that he got socks, shirts, and shorts.  I also remember him 

picking out a new hammer at the Home Depot :)

Happy Birthday Talbie!

Sweet Talbie is 17 today!  I really can't believe it.

 

To start the day off, Caryn and Kayla Crandall came over

and brought her a present and a beautiful bouquet of sunflowers.

Caryn is the Young Women President in our ward and 

Talbie and Kayla were born 1 month apart and have been in the same

ward together since they were born.  Great friends!

 Dave and I search, saved, searched, and saved some more

and were able to pull of an enormous surprise of getting her a car for her birthday!

It's a 2000 Saturn that we had painted to look new :)

My parent helped us pull this surprise off by picking up the car

and getting it to our house.

 Talbie opened her presents, not expecting a thing :)

 She opened one of them from us that had car mats, air fresheners,

and a car garbage can.  We said it was for her car when she saved money to get one.

 Then we gave her the real surprise :)

 Our young women leaders put this darling cupcake in front of your house for your birthday!

 Finally, our across the street neighbor and another one of her advisors

gave her this darling apron!

It was a great day for her :)

Recent Happenings...

I am not as faithful at my blog as I would like...

But I've worked on this little blog for 6 years so I can't let it fail now!

Here are the latest happenings with our family...

Maddie got a motorcycle.  Heaven help us!

The bike came with a heavy duty helmet, which I'm thankful for.

Motorcycles just scare me to death!!

Emmie has been having a lot of ear trouble  She had

her 5th set of tubes but in a month or so ago.  After that surgery

she was still having a lot of ear pain.  We determined it was from water getting

into her ear that couldn't drain out properly.  Water was getting in, even with just showering.

 So... she had some fancy ear plugs made that she has to wear to swim and even shower.

They have made a huge difference in her life :)

 

Talbie ended her Jr. year being elected to Student Council for next year.

She's really excited and will be working with the best group of kids for her Senior Year!

 More on Emmie...

Emmie had to have 2 permanent teeth pulled in preparations to getting braces.

We worried this would happen with all our kids because I had to have 4 permanent teeth

pulled when I was young because there wasn't room in my mouth for all of them.

With Maddie, Talbie, and Bronson, they were able to "stretch" their mouths

starting at a young age.  It wouldn't work for Emmie :(

Visiting grandma at the rehab facility.  After Mary took a horrible fall, she

was admitted to a rehab facility.  Her last day there is tomorrow and tonight

we are all getting her settled at her permanent home/care center at Jamestown.  I think

she will really enjoy it there. 

 We have a BEAUTIFUL new bike trail by our house call the

Murdock Canal Trail.  It an old canal system that they covered up

and made a trail that goes from near our house in Orem - all the way to Lehi.

You could even connect to another trail in Provo so you could technically go

over 40 miles on this trail.  Dave, Emmie, and I rode it the other night and loved it!

 This picture makes me smile every time I see it.

Maddie and her life long friends, Jessie and Maddie

think they are starting a band.  Jessie is a fabulous pianist but Maddie

and Maddie don't really play an instrument.  They look cute though, don't they :)

 Talbie's grades her Jr. Year.  

I have to brag a little about her because she is such a hard worker!

 

Last, but not least - I love pictures like this I can snap of my kids.

This is was late at night, Dave and I were going to bed, but they

stayed up laughing and talking together.  This particular night they

were playing "Would you rather..."

The classic one was Bronson would rather lick a cat's butt

than drink my pee.  Nasty, I know - but funny anyway :)
