Homecoming 2009

It has been a busy weekend for Maddie because it's Homecoming. She has performed at the school's assembly and at the football game last night but I don't have any good pictures or video because my camera stinks for things like that because of the lighting.

She was looking forward to today because it's the Homecoming dance. She went with Matt who has been a friend and neighbor for 13 years. We love Matt and his family. They also went with a huge group of friends that also makes it so fun. I hope they are having a great time!

Talbie's a Mother

2 days ago Talbie got an "egg baby" in her Child Development Class. Many of you know that Talbie is the most loving and nurturing child. But, she got her egg at school and after about an hour, she accidently dropped it and it cracked all over! Oh well - nothing a few bandaids won't fix :)

My Talented Brother (Dustin)

Dustin is not one who likes a lot of attention but I like to give it to him when he's done something great (which is all the time!) Dustin is an amazing singer/songwriter who has taught himself how to play the piano (and every other instrument) by ear. My mom paid me when I was in high school to give him piano lessons but playing by ear was much easier for him.

Dustin is mentioned in this week's "Mormon Times" (in the Deseret News) because he is part of a new CD that is being released called: "Nearer: A New Collection of Favorite Hymns"


He is on this CD other great artists and they have taken old sacred hymns - some that are no longer in our current hymn book - and remade (updated) them.

Bronson's Science Fair and "Arrow of Light"

Bronson had a busy day today. The 5th grade had their annual Science Fair and he demonstrated how to build the best paper airplane. He is a master airplane builder and he did a great job demonstrating his project!

Then tonight was Bronson's very last Pack Meeting! Bronson will be 11 in a couple of weeks and tonight he and Brock received their "Arrow of Light" awards. I can't believe that I'll never have another Cub Scout. Although tonight Emmie did say (because she loves Pack Meeting so much)..."I can't wait until I'm a Cub Scout!" I had to break it to her that she will NEVER be a Cub Scout!

Today is Dave's 40th Birthday!

Dave's cousin - Julie sent him a card with some old family pictures in it. This is a priceless one with Dave and his grandma.

We love you Dave so much. You make our family the best one in the world because you do so much for all of us. We hope this is the best day ever!

We had a great new place open up by our house called "Pirate Island Pizza" and it's so fun for the kids and the food isn't half bad either. It makes a great family night.

Back in the Bunny Business

OK - I know we've done this before and then after a couple of years, we decided that we didn't want bunnies anymore so we gave them away. Well, after spending a summer without bunnies and realizing how much we miss them - especially when we have a huge garden that they could eat from - we decided that we wanted bunnies again!

Yesterday I looked on KSL to see who had bunnies for sale and I got lucky and found a wonderful family that had 4 babies that they were giving away for FREE and they just wanted them to go to a good home. Well, they found one!!

We are now back in the bunny business and I'm sure by spring we will have babies to share with all of you :)

Art Work

When I went to Back to School night at the elementary school the other night, I saw Emmie's self portrait outside her classroom. She looks like a little gangsta with a big pink bow in her hair. I loved this picture and it made me kind of sad at the same time because my baby is in the 2nd grade and I know that I don't have too many more years of things like this. I need to enjoy every second of it!

Being Asked...

Last night I was just about to fall asleep (I go to bed early) when I came out of my sleepy fog and heard the doorbell ring around 11:00 pm

I'm so glad Dave was home because I get freaked out when things like this happen but then in the back of my mind I thought, "I bet it's someone asking Maddie to Homecoming" - it is that season...

And it was :) Dave brought in this sign with a big bag of Peanut M&M's. Maddie dumped out the bag of M&M's but we couldn't see a note or anything about who was asking her. We were just about to give up when Dave noticed one of the M&M's had a crack in it and it looked like it had been opened.He cracked it open and found a tiny piece of paper inside. He gave it to Maddie and she read...
She's so excited - and so are we! We've known Matt since we moved into this house. Maddie and Matt were 3 and they've been great friends ever since. They will have a great time!!
