The Mall and Makeovers

Maddie and Talbie had some "girly time" at the mall on Saturday and got makeovers. It was fun for both of them but especially Talbie. She has make up but she never wears it. They helped give her some pointers on ways to put it on and look good. We had lots of fun!

It's Homecoming weekend for Orem High! Dave and I are both alumni from OHS (even though we both just went our senior years there) and it was fun to be back - especially to watch Maddie perform. We went to the assembly that day at school and watched the Dance Company perform. Then they performed at the football game that night. It sure brings back memories from when I used to do that! It actually feels weired to be old enough to have a daughter doing what I feel like I did just yesterday - even though it's been 20 years!

Us at the game...it was the best "recital" Bronson had ever been to! He always has to sit through dance recitals, but this time he got to watch a football game before!

Maddie hates it when I take her picture. I was able to capture this one as she ran into her good friend, Josie - who just moved from our ward before school started!

The tiger mascot was very scary to Dallin and Emmie - but they warmed up to him at the end.

School Pictures - 2008

The kids have all gotten their school pictures back. We have really had good luck with school pictures and I've never needed to get retakes. Maddie wasn't very happy with her picture because it was taken the first week of school and she's so tan against her blond hair. I think they all turned out great!

Birthday Fun

On Friday night, I was at the church teaching a class or our ward's "Fabulous Friday" craft night. Dave was a trooper and he took Bronson and all his friends to see Kung Fu Panda at the dollar movie and then they came home for root beer floats.

On Saturday night, Dave and I took Bronson out for his birthday dinner. He choose "Fuddruckers" because he loves to play the games.




Then on Sunday we had the family over for cake and ice cream. He had a great birthday!!

New Favorite

On Saturday when Dave was at the Priesthood session of Conference, the girls wanted to go shopping. I wasn't up for it (believe it or not!) so I dropped Talbie and Maddie off at the mall.

When they were ready to be picked up, Maddie called me and said, "I bought you a prize!" Oooh! I was excited. It's not everyday (in fact, this may have been a first) that she gets me a prize.

She got me this new lip gloss at Bath and Body Works. It by CO Bigelow (my favorite) and it's menthol/mint flavored. I love it!! Thanks Maddie!!!

One of the Best Weekends of the Year!

I can't tell you how much I LOVE Conference Weekend. We don't do anything very exciting or have anywhere special to go to listen to conference, but we are edified and fed spiritually just the same!

It's Saturday and Emmie spent the night with Grandma Knowles last night in Heber. Dave and Bronson just left to pick her up and spend time with Grandma. Maddie is listening to Conference at my mom's house (and cleaning for her), Talbie is in her room sewing (and supposedly listening) and I have the house to myself and it's quiet - and I have been able to listen to each talk without interruptions!

I hope your weekend is enjoyable and enjoy Conference!

Halloween Tradition

I got the Halloween/Fall decorations out the other day. One of my favorite things in the world is the pictures of my kids in their Halloween costumes. I started this tradition one year when Talbie was 1 and Maddie was 4. Dave's mom had made their costumes and I wanted to get their pictures taken so I'd remember them. It became a tradition and I love getting them out every year and remembering! This is just a sample of some of our pictures - there are still some I need to frame (like last years!)

I wanted to share this idea. There may be some of you out there that already do this but if you don't - it's never too late to start.

We also do this with pictures of Santa! Maddie asked last year when she'd be able to stop getting her picture taken with Santa and I said, "NEVER!"

We're Having a Baby!

We are having babies - 3 of them to be exact. We have 3 baby bunnies and they are SO CUTE!! Their names are Anne, Diana, and Gilbert (name the movie!)

If you're in the mood for a baby bunny, they will be ready to leave their mommy in about 2 weeks! Let me know!

Utah Drug House

Kellie wrote "this is Dave" so she wouldn't get blamed for my bad spelling and poor grammar.
This is the first time that Kellie has let me near her blog so I am approaching this task with sober resolve and maybe she will allow me to make more posts. Well here we go.

Many of you may be aware of the controversy over homes that have been contaminated by drug use or meth lab contamination. There are also thousands of police officers around the U.S. that are experiencing severe health issues, many cancer cases, as a result of exposure to the chemicals used in manufacturing methamphetamine. Now there are many people who have purchased or moved into houses or apartments that are contaminated and they are getting sick.

This has been an important issue for Kellie and I because I have experienced problems myself and I have lost some of my close friends to cancer as a result of exposure. Unfortunately many states, including Utah do not require sellers or land lords to disclose previous contamination of a property before you move in.

Kellie and I decided that we would put together a website that would provide information and give direction to people who believe their house has been contaminated. The site also includes a database where you can search and see if any residence has ever been busted with a meth lab. The database is Utah only right now but in about a week will include the entire U.S. Tens of thousands of homes. The site is at utahdrughouse.com hopefully this site can help raise awareness.
